However, it is no wonder that when faced with so with so little employment opportunities, those same innovators return to their home countries, taking their skills and superior education with them.

Our perspective on whether someone is an asset or a deficit reliably predicts how we will relate to them. People who are "disabled" are not typically people we think of as capable of changing the course of history. However, that is exactly what those labeled ADD have done throughout history. We have mistaken traits such as disorganization, unfocused attention, the lack of follow through, and impulsiveness as signs of a deficient human being. We find instead that they possess highly creative ideas, first class problem solving skills,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], off the charts intelligence, and intellectual gifted-ness. I was hurt and offended until my supervisor pointed out to me that I had just experienced “negative transference.” It’s one thing to read about it, another altogether to experience it.
Roadblock #3:
What I have discovered is that the process of learning how to use Your Talent Advantage to Live Your Talents has several hidden roadblocks. The first is that even after people have discovered their Talent Advantage they have never experienced what it is like to perform it in the real world,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

When I speak, I see smiles, nods of agreement, and get enthusiastic feedback. Remediation usually consists of doing more of what we don’t do well and less of the talents that come naturally. The outcome is that we “work hard” to acquire skills and talents that wear us out,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], leave little or no time for our innate skills and talents, and spend much of our time wondering why we are exhausted and unfulfilled.
The third roadblock comes from the intense but often,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], unconscious familiarity we have with our skills and talents. The reasoning that is often applied is, “if this is so easy for me to do then it must be nothing special. If it were it wouldn’t be so easy.” The cruelty joke in this chain of logic is that our skills and talents are easy to do because they are our skills and talents. The punch line is that we end up pursuing things that we don’t do well naturally because we attach more value to things we have to work hard at to master.
Claiming your Talent Advantage and using it to Live Your Talents are more than theoretical concepts for me. I believe that Your Talent Advantage is not only your birthright,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the road to a more fulfilling and meaningful life. 1) They will completely stop your progress. They seem to wait until you’re moving full steam ahead,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and then step out in front of you to block the path to your goal.
It’s often difficult to spot a mule when it blocks the road to your goal. Unexpected obstacles often get in the way,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and generally with creativity and determination you can successfully move or eliminate them. But when a real mule comes along, learn to recognize it by its stubborn, immovable nature.
I think of these immovable obstacles as mules,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Mules have three key characteristics.

After you make your plan, the first few weeks are energizing as you see yourself moving toward the goal. Your vision expands and you can feel the positive energy as you visualize the future and your anticipated accomplishments.
She recently finished her third highly-profitable, standing-room-only show,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and is well on her way to building a successful art show business without the expense of a permanent gallery. In going around the mule, she found that she could eliminate the need for a major expense and at the same time take advantage of the established clienteles of successful night clubs. Today she’s more fired up about her goal than ever, and realizes that the mule turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
One of the most exciting activities you can involve yourself in is goal setting. The future is bright and filled with endless possibilities, and by carefully planning a set of actions and milestones you can achieve nearly any goal you commit yourself to.
4) Go around the mule. This is easier said than done,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because it’s the mule’s nature to completely block the path to your goal. Keeping your eye on your goal,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you simply concede that the mule is truly a mule and will not be moved. She was so excited! After finding the perfect space, she began working out her goals down to the smallest details. She was finally on the road to achieving her dream. Then, just before she was to sign the lease agreement, a mule stepped out into the road. Her backer backed out of the deal. Without the finances, there would be no art gallery, and after an exhaustive search for another backer she was ready to give up in the face of an immovable mule.
A Case in Point
3) Move the mule out of the way. This will also generally lead you back to option one, because if it’s really a mule, you won’t be able to move it. One of the most common pitfalls in attempting to achieve a goal is getting de-focused. Trying to move a mule is a totally frustrating experience,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and you’ll dissipate your energy in the process. If you want to succeed, you’ve got to keep your eye on the goal and not on the mule. Remember, your objective is to achieve your goal; not to move the mule.
Last year, my daughter came up with a business plan to set up an art gallery, a dream she had thought about for years. The cost to lease and renovate a space in a prominent location was well beyond her means, but after several months of diligent effort, she found a backer who was willing to invest the money to get her started.
Before the mule had exhausted all her energy and vision, she began refocusing on her goal, which was to start an art show business. A friend of hers owns a popular night club and offered to let her host an art show at the club on a week night. After a tremendous job of creative planning,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], she held her first show and completely packed out the club. It was a total success.
2) Wait for the mule to go away. This will generally lead you back to option one,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because if the obstacle is truly a mule, it won’t go away. Goals,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], properly set, include milestones and are time-sensitive. The longer you remain in a stalled condition waiting for a mule to move, the more milestones you’ll miss, and eventually you’ll be forced to admit failure.

1) Abandon your goal. You can rationalize that the goal isn’t really important, or you can simply give up and feel defeated. This is a common response to mules, especially for people who are in the early stages of working toward a goal. Hopefully, you’re committed to achieving your goals and have the determination to overcome any obstacle.

All my kids are friends with all her kids and their cousins. Patty cried many tears for the boys and I knew her heart hurt for my broken heart. Her first diagnosis was with lung cancer. Then it went to her brain. They took the tumor out and it grew back within a month,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. She had to have another surgery. Then finally she was cancer free. I cried tears of joy. She was here to see her oldest daughter Sarah get married.
I use to say that when I got to Heaven I was going to ask God why did Gabriel and Josiah have to leave me. Now I say that I’ll be so happy to see them and all the loved ones that have gone on before that I’ll forget the whys. Remember to “Let Go And Let God".

It’s made up of teams that raise money for cancer research. After Patty was diagnosed I joined a team here in our little city, Lincoln, California. I joined my friend Diana’s team, “The Ya Ya’s”. I watched my friend suffer and I wanted to make a difference. I had lost two of my children and I wanted to use the pain I always feel and turn it into a positive and help others. Just like I did when I started this web site.
After I lost my sons Gabriel and Josiah I wanted to do more to help others. I’d taken in many kids through the years and volunteered for many a good cause, but I now wanted to use my pain to make a difference. I was seeing all this pain and suffering before my eyes. What would God have in store for me?
After that the disease struck my Aunt Inez. She had already lost 13 family members within two years. Again we ask why? Shouldn’t we who lost family members be exempt from this terrible disease? I’m glad to say that today Aunt Inez is also a survivor.
That’s when I learned that cancer is no respecter of persons. I hate the very sound of the name. Shouldn’t it only attack evil people? If that were true most of us would be so much happier.
After losing Aunt Wanda my other Aunt Wanda was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had to have a radical mastectomy. She is now a survivor,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. I remember her anger against the disease and how it affected her losing both her breasts. She felt that the disease had stolen part of her womanhood.
My friend Diana was struck with the disease before the boys died and she had to have a radical mastectomy. I watched how she grew closer to God and grew dependant on him. Then when I lost my sons she in turn was such a positive influence on me. Diana now is a survivor.
My first heartache that cancer caused was losing my loving aunt. Aunt Wanda was an inspiration to everyone who came in contact with her. The loss was so severe,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. I was overwhelmed with grief. She had the gift of hospitality. She made all of the nieces and nephews feel as though they were the most special children in the world. Her own four children adored her. Her husband treated her like she was the queen of their castle. I had the hardest time understanding how this horrible disease could kill such a wonderful person. Aunt Wanda wasn’t a materialistic person in the least,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. She ran a lot of the women’s fellowships at church and fervently prayed for others.
If cancer were a person I would call him Lucifer, Satan and Devil. I’d punch him in the face. All’s we know is its name and we need to fight back. Let’s kick cancer in the teeth.

One awesome way that we raised money at our “Relay For Life” is to sell luminary bags,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. They’re lunch bag size and you put sand in the bottom to hold a votive candle. The person who buys the bag can write anything they want to say about a loved one. There were several memorial bags and bags with encouraging messages for people still fighting the disease. I like to light one in memory of my sons because I know they would be so proud of me using my pain to help others. We sold enough to go around the whole football field and then to write the word “Remember” on the bleachers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. When it’s dark all the candles are lit and it’s so amazing.
At our “Relay For Life” we set up our booths clear around our high school football field. We all decorate our spaces with a theme that our teams vote on,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. The community comes together to help. We have someone at all times walking the track for 24 hours. Each volunteer signs up to walk an hour or two. The first hour is the “Survivors” walk. Diana and Patty walk in this walk. It was only a week later that Patty had to have her kidney removed. I believe she’ll march on. We all collect pledges. Our little city raises over a hundred thousand dollars every year. I know we all wonder why some survive and others don’t. I don’t have that answer. I lost two sons that were so loving and giving and would help anyone. Why? I don’t know. Some of us get to go early (darn it). We live in a world that is not eternal. It is full of sickness and disease. Car accidents and murders are on the news daily. There are also natural consequences in this life. If you run in front of a car, you’ll get ran over. I know I can’t be a hypocrite. I always taught my kids “Earth is our school and Heaven is our home. We’re only passing through”. It just hurts so bad to be left behind here without our loved ones.
My friend Colleen lost her mother to cancer. I’ve been with Colleen on holidays and could tell she was missing her mother. They were like best friends,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Holidays are the hardest times when you’re missing a loved one. We want them right beside us. Colleen often decorates her mother’s grave for different holidays. Her mother is buried in the same cemetery as my boys and I’ve often been surprised by beautiful crosses and flowers on my boys graves from Colleen.
Remember when I said that cancer is no respecter of persons? You can surely see this when you see a child struggle with this disease. Our pastor’s young son has gone through a sickness that has torn at the heart of his parents. Pastor Nathan walked along side his son Isaiah has he walked in the “Survivors” walk. The pastor has a blog for his son and keeps friends, family and church members updated on his progress. I knew Pastor Nate could understand some of the severe grief I live with on a daily bases after seeing his own son near deaths door. Isaiah has curls all over his head like his daddy’s. When he lost all his curls due to cancer treatment, pastor Nate shaved his head so Isaiah could still look like daddy. A few men in the church also shaved their heads for Isaiah. How cool is that?

Make sure that whatever you have designated for yourself is something that you really want. How do you know if you really want it? You feel a passion for it. The desire rises up from deep within you. The idea of having this or being in this state feels good to you.
Whether it is wealth, career success, or spiritual growth that you desire, you must recognize that what you want doesn't come from outside you. To sit around hoping money will show up, or wishing your talent would be recognized,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or dreaming that some day you'll have it all together is a sure way to frustrate yourself. Saying "I want to be a success." doesn't make you a success in anything. Wanting something isn't enough. It is the kind of wanting that matters. Next, begin doing the work that will help you get where you want to go.

Immediately the universe begins unfolding steps so that this job will appear for this person. Out of the blue, a week later the individual loses his present job. The man goes into a panic, thinking of how he will pay his bills and support his family. Fear takes over and he becomes very stressed. What this person isn’t realizing is that more than likely this is the first step to bring his intention into reality. In order to receive the new it is often required to let go of the old. But the fear creates more of the same and places a block in the energy flow to the man’s desire. The unfolding of the steps is put on hold until the block is removed. So the man says it isn’t working due to lack of trust and begins looking for his own job.
Our entire universe consists of energy, and the energy is continually moving due to its vibrations.
