Do you like listening to music while reading? If yes then have you ever thought how it affects your reading process,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? Does it allow you to read faster or does it slow you down? How does it affect the reading comprehension?
To find out if the background music is good for your reading performance you can try out reading with and without music. Afterwards you can compare in which situation you can read more focused. Try to observe if the music starts turning your attention away from the text. If that is the case,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then reading and music do not mix for you or at least you should try different type of music, which is less catchy.
First,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it must be stated that if you want to read fast then you have to concentrate well to the text you are reading. Your thoughts have to be focused and you should not let your mind to wander away. Poor concentration leads to slow reading speed. In addition, it hurts your reading comprehension. If your mind is not with the text you may lose track while reading and you will have problems with memorizing the content of the reading material.
You may also want to listen to music when you are in a noisy environment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], such as an office, where other people are chatting,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], making phone calls etc. Then you can put on your earphones,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the music helps you to isolate from disturbing noises. Putting the earphones on may be also helpful in situations when you get often interrupted by your colleagues, who start chatting to you. If you have your earphones on then other people usually will not disturb you unless the have a serious issue to talk about.
It means that the effect of music on speed reading and comprehension should be judged upon the effect of music on your concentration,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. The question is can music distract you or could it be helpful for achieving better concentration,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
It depends on your personality and some people find listening to music supportive to their reading process,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while for the others the effect of music can be the opposite. Many people cannot feel comfortable in a complete silence. For them, background music can create a more comfortable environment. Still, music should be there only for the background and it means that it should not be catchy. The music should not be so attractive that you start listening to it. It can be there for creating the atmosphere, but you should not listen to it attentively while reading. Therefore instrumental music is better for reading as there is no possibility for listening to the lyrics. It is good if the music is relaxing by its nature, so heavy metal would not be a wise choice. You can listen to sounds of the nature or music for meditation while reading.
It has to be noted that in most cases human mind can efficiently deal with only one task at the same time. For example, if you are reading and talking to the telephone simultaneously, then it is likely that your reading speed will be slower,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you may have difficulties in memorizing the text and the phone call may be not as successful as you wished. So,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if you want to be efficient then you should not read and talk with the telephone at the same time.
If the music that we are listening to starts to distract us in a way that we focus on the music instead of focusing on the text then our reading performance will suffer. If the music is for background and if it does not turn our attention away from the text,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then music is not a distracting factor for reading.

North Korean authorities are refusing entrance to Chosun Ilbo journalist Kim In-gu,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one of two members of the Southern newspaper journalists pool set to cover the Red Cross negotiations at Mount Keumgang. As of Tuesday afternoon,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Kim was stranded in Changjon Harbor on the Keumgang Ho, the Hyundai ship that transports Southern tourists to the area. Kim had won the right to be in the pool through a lottery held by the Ministry of Unification.
The Southern delegation arrived in Changjon Harbor Tuesday morning, but after examining the documents of the sixteen members of the delegation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the North permitted all but Kim to de-board. So far the North has said only that it would "inform [the delegation] of our position later." A Ministry of Unification official says that when the Southern delegation departed from Tonghae on Monday, the North sent a message through the Red Cross saying that the Chosun Ilbo writes a lot of articles which are meant to offend us.
Park Gi-ryun, the Republic of Korea Red Cross official leading the delegation is reported to have requested an urgent meeting with his Northern counterpart Choe Sung-chol immediately upon arriving at the Keumggangsan Hotel,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], where negotiations are scheduled to be held. The two were unable to arrive at a conclusion. The North had sent the South "written assurance of personal security" on June 24th after being furnished with the personal details of all sixteen members of the Southern delegation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], including the two newspaper reporters that were to be part of the larger news pool that includes other media.
Following agreement at the Pyongyang summit to allow visitation between families separated by the division of the peninsula, the ROK Red Cross suggested Panmunjom for the location of Red Cross negotiations that would discuss the details of such exchange. The Northern Red Cross responded by suggesting that both sides meet not in Panmunjom but at Mount Keumgang,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], located entirely within North Korea,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], saying that the area would be a good place to talk among ourselves,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], implying that they would be observed closely by other countries if they met in Panmunjom. The ROK Red Cross quickly agreed to meeting at Mount Keumgang,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], citing the lack of time to even discuss the issue given the August 15th Liberation Day date for the beginning of family reunion visits. Many are now noting that the current incident would not have taken place had the South not so quickly agreed to the unprecedented location of Mount Keumgang.
A Ministry of Unification official said Tuesday that the government had tried since the Southern delegations departure from Tonghae to contact the North and demand free entrance to the Chosun Ilbo member of the news pool,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but that there has been no response.
Immediately prior to the Pyongyang summit the North,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], citing critical reporting on the part of the Chosun Ilbo and the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), said that it would not permit coverage of the summit by either organization. Both were guaranteed permission to cover the event only at the last minute, immediately before the Southern delegation departed for the summit by airplane.

Asking for what we want, counting on others, and trusting people – all of which are essential for healthy, fulfilling, and real relationships – do make us vulnerable to being disappointed and even hurt by the people in our lives. So what! We end up getting more hurt and disappointed in the long run by withholding our desires and expectations. We might as well live out loud and be honest about how we feel, what we want, and what’s important to us.
3) Expand and express your desires. Make a list (mental or written) of some of the most important and vulnerable desires you currently have – the things you really want, but maybe have been afraid to admit (due to a fear of being disappointed). Many of us, myself included, don’t ask for things,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], go for things,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or express things unless we’re pretty sure we can make them happen,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], get them, or be sure people will respond to them in a positive way. While this makes sense, it’s also quite limiting. When you allow yourself to tap into and express your authentic desires, even if what you want doesn’t seem “possible” at the moment, you give yourself the freedom to ask, dream,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and create. One of my favorite sayings is, “The answer’s always ‘no’ if you don’t ask.” Start asking!
As you delve into this, be kind with yourself. This is a big one for me and so many people I know and work with. We all want to be loved, valued, and appreciated in our lives. And, most of us have had painful experiences of disappointment in the past, which have impacted us in a deep way. However, if we can alter our relationship to disappointment – we can transform our lives and our relationships in a profound way!
Here are a few things you can consider and do to expand your capacity to embrace disappointment in your own life:
By actively avoiding disappointment (of or by others), we set ourselves up for failure and pain. And, as I’ve seen recently, this makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to speak our truth, be ourselves, and live with a real sense of authenticity and peace.

As Dr. Seuss so brilliantly said, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
1) Take inventory. Take an honest look at some of the most important relationships and activities in your life. How many of your actions, thoughts, conversations, and more (or lack thereof) have to do with your avoidance of disappointing others or being disappointed? Also, take a look at your relationship to disappointment in general – how do you feel about it?
How do you feel about disappointing others? How about being disappointed yourself? I’ve recently noticed how much of my conscious and unconscious attention is focused on not disappointing others,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while at the same time protecting myself against being disappointed.
When we’re able to embrace disappointment, we create a sense of liberation and space that frees us up to be who we truly are and let go of our attachment with other people’s opinions. This is not always easy, but is so powerful and can be transformational.
What if we embraced disappointment instead of avoiding it? It’s inevitable that we will disappoint people, especially when we live our lives in a bold, authentic,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and passionate way. Speaking up, going for the things that are important to us, and taking care of ourselves are all things that at times won’t align with others and in some cases may even upset them. It is possible for us, however, to be mindful,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], empathetic, and aware of others, and still be true to ourselves – these things don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
As I’ve been looking at this more deeply, I’m amazed by how much stress, fear, and worry I experience in my attempts to avoid the disappointment of those around me – family, friends, clients, and others. At the same time, I can see that much of this comes from my own deeper fear of being disappointed and let down. The irony, of course, is that no matter how hard I try to avoid disappointing others or being disappointed myself, it happens anyway.
Disappointment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as uncomfortable and even painful as it can be for me and many of us, is essential and important on our journey of growth, self discovery, authenticity, and fulfillment. Making peace with disappointing others allows us to release our erroneous demands for perfection. Letting go of our fear of being disappointed by other people gives us the ability to take more risks and ask for what we truly want.
2) Practice saying “no.” This is a great practice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], especially for those of us “people pleasers” who find ourselves saying “yes” to stuff we don’t really want to do. While there is great value in being someone who is willing to say “yes” in life, there is also power in owning our “no” as well. See if you can practice saying “no” to people, even if it’s scary or uncomfortable. Be real and vulnerable about it – with yourself and others. And, see if you can expand your capacity to decline requests of things you don’t want to do, remove things from your plate or schedule that don’t serve or inspire you,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and make peace with yourself about it. As author and coach Cheryl Richardson says, “If it’s not an absolute ‘yes,’ it’s a ‘no’.”

Author's Bio:
Communication exercises and training that have an active listening component are especially helpful. The "Honey Jar" is a couples communication exercises that encourages couples to practice active listening,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Both of these scenarios are setups for the condition of escalating attempts to be heard,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], where each one’s response virtually guarantees that neither will be heard and that neither point of view will be understood. At this point, neither spouse is listening to the other, and neither seems to have that awareness.
By carefully clarifying messages, you can identify the patterns in your assumptions and distorted beliefs. Once the patterns have been identified, the assumptions and underlying beliefs can be challenged and replaced with at least neutral thoughts. For example, if you know that you are likely to assume that you will be abandoned,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you don't have to panic when your partner tries to de-escalate a discussion by taking a time-out. You can instead, sooth yourself, by reminding yourself that s/he hasn’t left yet in a conflict and probably won’t this time.
1. Pay close attention to what is going on.
2. Concentrate on what they are saying,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
3. Maintain eye contact without staring.
4. Don't interrupt.
5. Don't worry about what you are going to say until s/he is finished.
6. Practice active listening.
When you can actually hear what is being said in your conversations, you are less likely to engage in circular arguing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with each volley of verbal assaults setting up more miscommunication.
Building a solid foundation for the development of good communication skills involves learning how to listen effectively. There are several elements of effective listening. These elements include attention, reflection, ability to tolerate tension, and ability to challenge the assumptions that are usually made.
There are a number of things that can get in the way of good listening, including assumptions that tells the listener that s/he does not need to listen past some point. For example, the listener may assume that he/she knows what the other is going to say,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and may thus attend to just enough of the message to confirm his/her belief. Similarly, a failure to pay attention or succumbing to distractions, and rehearsing what your response will be,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], also get in the way. What often happens is that the “listener” may tune out the other person while trying to figure his/her response.
When teaching couples how to change how they talk to each other, active listening is stressed. Much of the time, poor listening skills are at the heart of couple communication problems. You can't have effective communication without good listening skills. And you cannot be good at solving problems together without good communication skills.
When there are problems with focus or attention, the issue may be deliberate or non-deliberate lack of listening. To be a good listener, practice these guidelines:
In the absence of effectively listening, the message sent or intended is often not the same message as the one received by the listener. Although this may happen for a lot of different reasons, poor listening is commonly at fault.
Active listening is an especially helpful tool in effective communication. Sometimes called "reflective listening", active listening involves clarifying the message to make sure that you heard what was said by repeating it back. An active listening technique that is helpful is the use of the phrase,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "What I hear you saying is..." This is only one example of reflective listening and feedback. Any clarifying question could serve as active listening. The point is that when you clarify a message, you are making sure that the message that you have received is the same messages as the one that was sent, or intended.
Reflective listening feels awkward, unnatural, odd,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], stiff,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and just plain weird. It does however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], have a number of benefits that make it worth learning and practicing. Through active listening you can eliminate most of your arguments by making sure that the message that is received is the one that was sent.
Sometimes the process can still get derailed when the paraphrased "what I heard you saying" message is met with "that is not what I said", and then an argument ensues over which one is correct. Couples get derailed by arguing about what was actually said or not said in the first place. This is easily remedied by each person bearing in mind that the goal is effective communication, not proving who is “right” or “wrong”. A good phrase to remember for this situation is, "actually, what I intended to say was..."

Is this really what we want? There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with an idea or a practice. Matter of fact, standing for principles is a good thing, as long as we have first considered with an open mind the newness. Embracing diversity does not mean that you have to agree. Rather it is more about seeing things from a different perspective so that you can have an understanding that allows you to empathize and communicate more effectively. It goes without saying that kindness is owed to everyone,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], even and especially those with whom you may disagree.
I happen to believe that the traditions of courtesy and polite behavior are good positive values of our society — values that we should want to keep. So, give it some thought. The next time you are on an airplane and others plow ahead at break-neck speed refusing to wait their turn,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there are several ways you might respond. You might sit back, watch and enjoy the show. Or,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if you want to be a little ornery, you might turn slightly sideways placing your legs into the aisle, or perhaps place your carry-on in the aisle next to your seat,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or even stand in the aisle beside your seat. By blocking the aisle and hindering advancement,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you may cause others to slow down long enough to observe the traditional filing out row-by-row procedure. Or, maybe not.
However you choose to respond, remember to be polite, wait your turn, hold on to your good, positive values, and please,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], don’t rush the aisle!
People watching is not only fun, it can be very educational as well! Because of my professional speaking and training business, I have the wonderful opportunity to travel to many different places, and observe people of every age from various backgrounds and cultures. I watch and learn new things, gain new perspectives and oftentimes, I gain a deeper appreciation because of a new understanding.
I enjoy these experiences and have found that I can learn a lot of new things right here in the good, old U.S.A. It is of great interest to me to observe how something as simple as living in a certain area code of the U.S. effects communications with people from certain other area codes in the country.
Being a Southern girl, traveling to New Jersey a few years ago for the first time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], was like going to another country! For communication to be effective, it necessitated a desire to understand and a willingness to adapt on my part. Only then did I gain the ability to appreciate the more direct communication styles and a different focus or approach to topic discussions. Thankfully, I am blessed with a natural curiosity and the desire to constantly find areas for self-improvement (which, by the way, is not a hard thing to find). Clearly there are positives and negatives associated with “different.” The key is to recognize both,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and then to use the positives as personal and professional growth opportunities. It is important to have an open mind. It is important to learn from “different”. Right?
For me the answer is yes…. and no! I believe that our society values non-judgment and political correctness to a fault. Okay,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I know what you’re thinking. What in the world do you mean by that?” Before you accuse me of being “judgmental” and get the urge to tar and feather me, consider this. I believe that you should keep an open mind and embrace new ideas …without letting go of your own positive values. One of my favorite expressions is this: “Step out of pre-judgment and into curiosity.” When a new idea comes along, when you come face-to-face with “different”, before making a decision about whether you agree or disagree, whether it is “right” or “wrong”, step back and be curious to understand. Once you understand the different perspective that is before you, then make your decision.
Which brings me to the title of this article…Don’t Rush The Aisle… Traditionally, here in the states accepted behavior has been to wait your turn. That is considered the polite thing to do. Isn’t that what your mother taught you? Your teachers at school also? Remember this? “Wait your turn at the water faucet.” And, “No cutting in the lunch line!” We take our place in line seriously around here! Recently, it was even reported that two women came to blows in line at Disney because allegedly one woman tried to cut in front of the other. Most agree, it is polite to wait your turn. This is common courtesy. I don’t think that is a bad thing, do you?
I have been flying for 30+ years (I flew as a small child) and in the past upon landing and deboarding the plane, people filed out of their seats one row at a time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], politely waiting their turns. Over the last few years, I have seen this courtesy begin to go by the wayside. I understand that in some cultures ”taking turns” is not the traditional way, and at first, it was just a few people once in awhile who jumped out of their seats and “rushed the aisle”,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pushing their way as far up the aisle until their path was stopped by someone who stepped into the aisle from their seat. Lately, more and more people are rushing the aisle - and not because the plane is late, but just because of impatience. Impoliteness and self-centered behavior seems to be contagious. After all, if others are getting ahead in the aisle, why shouldn’t I?

ordinarily, these enterprises should actively support, thanks to state and taxpayers to repay the society,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], undertake the necessary social responsibility. Unfortunately,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], many enterprises not only lack of gratitude consciousness should be rich and cruel, but often escape, should undertake the corporate social responsibility, such as PetroChina is still a lack of transparency, fair price adjustment mechanism, oil prices drop more, less, side to side and a lot of money to poor mouth. And the other a communications industry leader China Mobile, according to its 2008 annual report released,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], China Mobile in 2008 net profit of 112800000000 yuan, the average daily gain (309000000 March 20th "Beijing News"), is really horrifying.
the state information center, the economic forecast Department of Macroeconomic Research Director Niu Li said, China's two major oil giant 2006-2008 from three years to 210000000000 special benefit, also known as "windfall tax". Among them, the oil to about 160000000000, Sinopec is turned over about 53000000000 (yesterday "Nanfang Dushi Bao" reported).
media certainly is not only a kind of comments on attitude, more is urgently needed to look forward to improve the social income distribution system. For a long time, "added the bank card (securities, insurance), two (electric power, telecom) add a grass (tobacco), petroleum and petrochemical, who also take a lot of" monopoly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], enjoy national preferential policies,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], rely on be richly endowed by nature monopoly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or even state subsidies, earn a lot of community wealth.
windfall tax not only in the oil industry, should also include telecommunications, mobile and other monopoly industries. The State Council Development Research Center of macroeconomic research department researcher Ni said: "windfall tax can also >
unfortunately,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in 2006 the State Council issued the "State Council on collecting the special oil gain decision" and the Ministry of Finance issued a "special oil gain levy management measures" provisions ",[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], since March 26,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 2006 the national oil exploitation of domestic oil enterprises sell because the price exceeds a certain level the excess revenue collection by proportion of oil special revenue fund". At present, the windfall tax is only confined in the oil and other oil companies, is the case. More monopoly enterprises enjoy national policies, given the "pie in the sky", but does not pay the windfall tax. Also, pay the windfall profits tax is a kind of individual "emotional action",[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], instead of writing legal action on the paper. Industry experts say,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], at present the windfall tax has not been put on the agenda of national taxation, only in some experts put forward relevant opinions stage. "Is mainly the windfall tax has not been paid attention to."
a windfall profits tax, will be a considerable part of the profits turned over to the state treasury, these funds will be used for public facilities and also conducive to people, monopoly profits are effective monitoring and control. The "modern version of ShaFuJiPin", contained the possibility of monopoly profligate, slow down the gap between the rich and the poor,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the masses of the monopoly enterprises will alleviate a lot of anger.
I noticed, for to the windfall tax, almost all of the comments are fully affirmed.

Go ahead. Coach THEM to run the plays. You will love it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. And they will too!
You – you are the boss.
There is a backlog of decisions for you to make.
The next time Jane comes to you with a question –
don’t answer it.
What if you used a tool from the sports world? What if you created a play book so that Jane can study the plays,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], practice them and run them on her own?
Because I have BEEN the bottleneck.
Then what about this idea?
In this version – she is a customer service rep trying to keep your customers happy.
Author&#039,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych];s Bio:
It may take several times for her to master each play, but with patience, you will reap the rewards:
1. Your customers will get quicker answers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
2. Jane will be more independent,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
3,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Her morale and self-confidence will grow.
4. She will be more confident in your leadership, because will no longer be a bottle neck.
5. You can even end up with a valuable play book IF you or Jane will write down each situation and approved solution along the way.
6. And – once Jane and team have mastered the plays, you can take a break from the game, leave a winning team on the field and be confident of a happy ending.
If not – make suggestions for improvement.
If you are like most people,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you are wishing someone else could make some of these decisions. BUT you’re afraid to trust their solutions, so you hope there will be an end to the madness soon.
Jane is frustrated.
No time to make a play book,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
This is a true story – heard every day – from all walks of life. The names have been changed to protect the innocent and guilty.
Instead – ask her a question.
Everyone keeps pressing her for answers you have not yet given to her to give to them,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
For example – “Well Jane – what do you think is the best way to handle this?”
If you like her answer – congratulate her.
She comes to you for solutions.
Jane gets calls and problems from customers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Jane could be a co- worker, student, direct report, family member – actually anyone in your life.
How do I know all of this,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
